I LOVE tea. When I discovered this new little store in West Edmonton Mall, I was instantly charmed. Open and bright, the clean lines and simplicity of this space make it inviting and easy to shop. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable and I wonder how they are schooled on the different properties of each tea.

The teas are lined up on the back shelf just as you see them in the picture above. The tins are color coded for the different types, black, green, rooibos, herbal and my new favorite pu'erh. There are teas to help what ails you like the Greek Mountain Tea and my new favorite Dolce & Banana, a creamy chamomile blend with the sweet taste of bananas.

Reasonably priced and with a selection that could make a tea totaler see heaven, DAVIDsTEA is my new favorite find in the west end AND online!

After a lovely Sunday afternoon chat with Chip Coffey Psychic and Medium of A&E’s Paranormal State and Psychic Kids, I was prepared to write the story of the man Behind the Icon but it didn’t come without a few paranormal glitches of its own.

While writing the first draft of this story the computer screen completely froze. There were numerous documents and windows open including the Chip Coffey story. Suddenly, strange beeping noises came out of the computer and the screen blinked, went blank then appeared to be fine – except that the article had completely disappeared. There was not a trace of it to be found on my computer, leaving me a little bewildered.

This occurrence was reminiscent of Coffey’s previous visit to Edmonton in the fall of 2009 to the Myer Horowitz theatre. While about to show a demonic video, the smell of smoke could be detected in the room and alarms rang out throughout the theatre causing the night to end abruptly while the audience evacuated the building.

“That was too coincidental to be a coincidence,” says Coffey. “It was just freaky.”

Regardless, Chip’s ready to be back! He wanted to come back to Canada so much that he admittedly set up Mike Anderson of Trixstar Productions. Using social media to his advantage, he posted a tweet on Twitter that said, “If you want me to come to Canada let @Trixstar Mike know where you want me to appear.” And so it began, with thousands of responses creating the 10 day whirlwind “Tour That Twitter Built”.

If you follow Chip on Twitter or Facebook it’s easy to see that he’s got a strong following of fans which boasts of celebrity friends such as Mandy Moore, Jordan Sparks, and All My Children’s Ricky Paull Goldin. Yet he still sees himself as the young boy from Atlanta, Georgia.

“I’m still the same old Chip I’ve always been”, he says. He is very gracious and grateful to his fans and takes nothing for granted.

Although, a very humble man he understands the magic of his celebrity status and only uses it to benefit causes that are close to his heart – hospice care for seniors and assisting in finding rescue animals a home. Even though he is highly allergic to dogs, he provides a loving home for four of his own and one cat, which have all been rescued by him.

When one of his dogs, Molly underwent over 22 radiation treatments for cancer on her foot, she was unable to continue up the stairs to the bed in which she slept in with Chip and the other animals. Without hesitation, Chip moved his bedroom to be downstairs with Molly until she was well again.

Coffey’s emotion is moving when he says, “I have five amazing souls living in this house with me.”

A very gifted psychic and medium he also marries his talents with a psychology background as a complimentary modality. He’s more aware of the impact of the message he has to deliver and is more sensitive to people. Understanding the desire for some people to have answers, he will not be a crutch nor foster dependence but instead may offer a little peace of mind.

“The message comes THROUGH me, not TO me. I’m a messenger, a conduit if you will.” says Coffey. “In that moment there is less of me and more of Spirit”.

Although these abilities are what this paranormal icon is recognized for, they are not what define who he is. The great grandson of famed Medicine Woman Minnie Sue Morrow Foster, son of a sailor and an eccentric and brilliant mother, Chip is deeply spiritual, gracious, and witty. He has a profound love for animals, compassion toward people and intrigue for the mysterious.

Chip Coffey is immersed in many phenomenons from hauntings, exorcisms and communicating with the deceased. But the one mystery that he jokes has him puzzled is donair meat.

“What IS donair meat?” Coffey asks with sarcastic humor.

Well, maybe that’s one investigation that will have to be discovered upon his return for the Coffey Talk tour in May.

You Are Sooooo Beautiful!
Empowering self-esteem for ages 4-104!

Story By Leanne Power
Illustrations By Jared MacPherson

I was sooooo excited when I heard that a friend of mine had completed her book after two years, that I couldn't wait to read it and review it! Leanne, being open to anything that I had to say, held her breath and waited for me to get back to her the same night with a review and when I did not...well she gracefully messaged me the next day and said, "I know that this might not be for everyone, but thank you."
I love her for this and many other of her qualities that make HER Sooooo Beautiful!

Once that little treasure made it's way into my hands, I could instantly feel a powerful surge of energy race from my fingertips all the way to my heart. I felt like a little kid just waiting to open my birthday presents! It took everything I had not to be distracted fom the colorful illustration of the cover and to wait for my "bedtime story". Yes, I waited until bedtime to read the story aloud to myself.

The book itself impresses upon each person's individual and unique beauty. Inspired by Leanne's nieces (particularly the character in the book Marley Rae) and her nephew, her pure and absolute love radiates through the words on each page. This light and easy read is a loving lesson to the young and a gentle reminder to the mature of how the things that make us different, is where our own true beauty shines!

Recommended for all!

You can purchase this book through the website and in select local book stores.

Leanne can also be found for her first book signing at Chapter's/Indigo in South Edmonton common on March 20, 2010 between 1-4 PM.

I decided to finish off 2009 with a cleanse, and not the typcial "fasting" type cleanse either. I wanted to try something that was gentle and relaxing, so I went to visit Rose's Remedies and found the Ion Cleanse to be a little more up my alley. It took only about 20 - 30 mins and it was as simple as soaking my feet in a tub of warm salt water.

Rose informed me of some of the after effects that I may experience such as fatigue, flu like symptoms and headaches as this is what can happen after a build up of toxins leaves your body, but much to my surprise I felt energized and relaxed. To get the full benefit of the cleanse she suggests doing it more frequently than my year end detox. This is something that I feel I could stick with due to it's ease and convenience (which is important with my busy schedule.)

Below is a description of the Ion Cleanse and it's benefits.
Rose also does reflexology, reiki, infrared sauna, and colon hydro therapy. You can find her at

Ion Cleanse
These days we are exposed to more toxins than ever before. To maintain health and to help avoid dysfunction and disease, periodic detoxification is essential.
Chemicals that are found in our water, air, and food, along with heavy metals, cholesterol deposits, and uric acid. Our bodies are bombarded on a daily basis. With an overload of these toxins in our body we are susceptible to disease, allergies and immune system breakdowns.

Most anyone can benefit from getting ION CLEANSE treatments. People from the young and to the elderly. The Ion cleanse does not treat, or diagnose any disease or condition.
It will create fantastic results in the body by helping to release implanted and accumulated toxins.
The ION CLEANSE – How it works?

The array splits water molecules (H20) into 2 ions; H+(Hydrogen) and 0H-(Hydroxal). This in turn, turns the water into 2 different gases. Ions travel into the body and attach themselves to opposite charged particles. The array acts as a magnet and pulls out particles which reconsolidate in water. For example; heavy metals such as aluminum, nickel, and lead have a positive charge, which will attract to the negative ions and be drawn out from the feet.

Colors and Objects from a Session:

Many colors and objects appear in the water during Ion Cleanse sessions.  Reactions occur between the toxins and particles in the water, salt in the water, metals in the array and the acidity or alkalinity of the person receiving a Ion Cleanse session.  It is important to understand the water will still change color even if there are no feet in the unit. The difference being water – based toxins will not stick to the side of the bucket, whereas substances pulled from the body will form a sticky ring on the bucket that must be removed with soap and a scouring pad to be cleansed thoroughly.

Based on testing by EAV (Electro Acupunture by Voll) the following colors in the water are believed to represent:

Yellow-Green  - Detoxifying from the kidney, bladder, urinary tract, female/prostate area.
Orange -  Detoxifying from the joints
Brown – Detoxifying from the liver, tobacco, cellular debris
Black – Detoxifying from the liver
Dark Green – Detoxifying from the Gall Bladder
White Foam – Lymphatic system
White Cheese – like particles – Most likely yeast
Black Flecks – Heavy Metals
Red Flecks – Blood Clot material

The ion cleanse should not be used under the following conditions:

Pregnant or lactating women – Any person who is on a heartbeat regulating medication – Any person who has a pace maker or any other battery operated or electrical implant – Organ transplant recipients - Any person who is taking a medication, the absence of which would mentally or physically incapacitate them. Eg: psychotic episodes, seizures etc…- Any person that has had a stroke and or are on stroke medication.

In Addition the following recommendations should be strongly considered:

Any one who has had an operation, it is suggested to wait approximately 4 – 6 weeks before having an ion cleanse session done.  -  Many medications require that a blood level be maintained in order to be effective, such as blood pressure medication. You should schedule the Ion Cleanse session before administrating the medication so that the client can maintain proper blood levels. – Make sure patients with low blood sugar (diabetics, or people with hypoglycemia) have eaten before a Ion Cleanse session.

As a general rule you can use the Ion Cleanse with patients on dialysis, taking insulin, or experiencing congestive heart failure. People who are on medications for depression can use ion cleanse also. Gentle detoxification will help the body eliminate toxins which the kidney and heart cannot eliminate on their own, but will not interfere with medications or deplete insulin levels.

You can work with people whom had had metal joint implants. Some have found that exposure to the electromagnetic field to uncomfortable. If the client does feel uncomfortable, stop the treatment.

Chris McRae contributes her second article for Trish's Dish at a time when we many are fearing that 2012 may mean the end fo the world. See what my favorite astrologer has to say about this hot and controversial topic.

2012:  AN ENDING OR BEGINNING?
By:  Chris McRae, ISAR.CAP, NCGR.CA, PMAFA
Professional Astrologer
(www.astrologychrismcrae.com)

The closer we get to 2012 the more hype we see.  It reminds me of the millennium transition when expectations were highly inflated and over-rated.  Certainly it was an ear-mark in time but mostly it was a mark on our calendar as predictions fizzled out.   Is the myth, magic, and dire predictions that abound around 2012 in the same category as the millennium transition?

The quatrains of Nostradamus are once more being paraded forth.  I once saw a documentary showing Nostradamus in his study holding a sheath of papers.  As he threw them up in the air he remarked, “now let them figure out the order”, or words to that effect.

There are several interpretations of the ending of the Mayan 5 Age on December 22nd, 2012, from cataclysmic events of total or partial destruction to a shifting of consciousness into a new paradigm.  The date is merely a page-mark in the book of time because, whatever is going to happen or has already begun to happen is not likely to be likened unto a blind snapping up or down indicating immediate light or dark.  If indeed we are at the end of an age and the beginning of a new one, there is much indication that it has already begun and the struggle for our new consciousness is already in progress.

From an astrological point of view, over time there are planetary signatures that indicate rise and fall of empires, shifting societal trends, increased seismic activity and even financial or industrial shifts.  It would be too tedious to cover the several that have occurred even over the last 100 or perhaps even 50 years but we are in the midst of a highly significant planetary shift that many feel will peak in the latter days of 2012.  I am going to stick my neck out and say I feel by 2012 we will have a clearer picture of what has been taking shape, and can begin a slow, steady climb towards whatever new standards will be coming into view.  The year 2015 is another significant frame of time when we can begin to settle into a new system or process of conducting business, conducting our lives and planning for our future.

Since all time is hinged upon all time, it is sometimes challenging to pick a starting time of a new era, but, in this instance there is a significant earmark to represent events of economic melt-down.  As Pluto, the planet of transformation, moved into the sign of Capricorn in early 2008, we observed a sharp shift in these affairs. The sign Capricorn represents structure, government, corporations, and established systems that form our reality. In US politics, for the first time we saw a black man and the first woman vying for top position; we saw the collapse of systems that were based on greed and avarice as financial institutions and corporations collapsed and the Dow plunged thousands of points; we saw chaos in the housing market and car companies were glutted with over-priced gas-guzzling automobiles.  To prop up whatever corporation or institution that seemed worth saving, we saw preposterous bail-out money being distributed with skyrocketing government debts that have yet to be reconciled.  Is the crisis over?  Not by a long shot, says this astrologer.  With Pluto’s advent into Capricorn, it put us into the initial stages of what astrologers have now termed The Cardinal T-Square.  Cardinal symbolism indicates a new beginning.  I would therefore suggest that the end of the 5 Mayan age is the beginning of a new one.

About May 2009 we saw a pleasant reprieve in general optimism and the markets as Jupiter and Neptune conjoined.  Jupiter is the planet of optimism and increase.  Neptune is the planet of illusion and delusion.  It is the fog or veil that diffuses reality. On the other side of the coin Neptune is inspiration.   Putting these two planets together gave us a false sense of euphoria that the economy was on its way to recovery as the Dow kept creeping forward to pass the 10,000 mark once more.  It continues even as I wrote this in November, 2009 but reality will once more surface as these two planets begin to widen in their orb of influence because Jupiter is moving faster than Neptune and the gap will have widened considerably by February, 2010.  Meanwhile the plot thickens.

The 2 leg of this 3-pronged T-Square began at the end of October 2009 as Saturn, the planet of structure, entered Libra forming a challenging square combination with transformative Pluto.  This square traditionally seems to create an underlying factor of fear as events and politics unfold.  This square will seem to predominate news items throughout most of 2010.

Then as Uranus, the revolutionary planet,  begins its sojourn through Aries in July 2010 , the T-Square is complete but must then play itself out over the following several months as we edge our way to the end of 2012 and the end of the 5 Mayan Age.   Uranus insists on revolutionary change in a system that is no longer functioning in the best interest of the societal structure.  I believe this will mark the low point of the entire cycle that begin around January 2008.

There is much indication that recovery will be slow as adjustments in failing systems begin to take shape and a new consciousness begins to emerge. I believe the Mayans, in their advanced technological and astronomical knowledge, did foresee the dawning of a new age.  I wonder why they ended their calculations at the end of the 5 Age rather than proceeding to the 6.  Is it safe to assume that they knew as a culture they would not need to calculate further, that other cultures were springing forth?

Go Out On A School Night

Last month I was grateful to have the opportunity to sit down for dinner with Collective Soul, the sexy southern rockers that hail from Atlanta, Georgia. They were performing in front of an almost sold out crowd at The Venue in the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, AB. While doing some snooping around on Google to see what these southern gents have been up to, I was genuinely surprised to see them connected to  something similar to Trish’s Dish, but on a scope that I have been dreaming of.

Sneaky Sunday…Sounds mischievous doesn’t it? I thought so too. The name itself was intriguing enough to prompt me to see what these boys were up to.  What’s so sneaky about a Sunday? First of all, it’s a school night and going out to play on one of these nights might mean knowing where the best and most unexpected hot spots are in your city. October 2009

This month I've decided to tell you a little bit about how Trish's Dish all came about and why I believe in it. It's a little bit of self promotion, but if I don't have the gumption to tell you why I do this then I have no business promoting anyone else.

The human spirit inspires me. I love to see people living passionately and creating businesses out of what moves them and brings them joy. I'm one of those people that acts on inspiration almost immediately and have tried my hand at a few things including businesses that have each been successful in their own way. I'm very passionate and when I love something - I LOVE IT - I tell everyone about it and I suppose that's what has been helpful to me in the sales aspect of my career path.

Earlier this year the recession hadn't been friendly to me in my career and I was noticing the same with my clients. Many of them were laid off from their jobs, experienced major financial cut backs, or were having many similar issues with selling to their own clients. I remember being so frustrated one day thinking that it didn't have to be this difficult. I knew that I wasn't the only one experiencing this pinch so I asked myself - how could I best be of service to those within my network? Well, it didn't take long for it to come to me. I know that when I believe in something I tell everyone about it, so I figured that I should use that energy and my big yap to tell everyone about each other!

That night I sat down in front of my computer and within three and a half hours, the bare bones of Trish's Dish was created and up and running. Everything flowed...the domain name was available, the marketing tag lines came to me with ease, and I wrote with a passion that had been void in my creativity for some time. I knew that I wanted to connect all of the great people I knew to each other - to grow and strengthen this diverse network and this was how I was going to do it.

In this time, everyone featured on this site has been remarkable and has continued to help me grow. I have learned so much from all of them and I would believe that this is why I continue to do what I do. I have spent so much time trying to figure out what it is that I love so that I can make my own business out of it, that I didn't realize until this came about that I've always done it. I LOVE to write and I LOVE to promote.

So with all of that being sorted and said, I'm finding multiple ways to do just that. Trish's Dish is more than just a site that can help showcase your business - it's my creative outlet and I'm grateful to everyone that supports this site and encourages me to continue. Without you...there's no dish. :)

This month we have a special treat. I usually dish on a product or service, but I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce a woman that I have great admiration for and hope will become a regular part of Trish's Dish.

I met Chris McRae almost 2 years ago upon recommendation from a friend when I mentioned that I would like to meet an astrologist. I've always been fascinated with the allure of how the universe is aligned and what part I play in it - mixing in with the planets and the stars. I knew that there had to be more to it  than just reading my daily horoscope. What does it all mean?

Here, Chris takes the time to explain it so that we can delve into the powerful energy of this galaxy and how it plays a part in the world as we know it today. She also offers detailed readings into your natal chart and classes teaching the depths of astrology.

I hope you enjoy this article as much as I do!

THE MYSTIQUE AND LURE OF ASTROLOGY

What is Astrology?  Is it a mystical conjuration from our distant past?  Has it survived the ages because of man’s insatiable curiosity about his future?  Or has it true value in today’s society?

There is a vast difference between the Sun Sign Astrology one reads in a daily newspaper and on so many websites, and the casting of a full horoscope based upon the time, place and date of birth.  A birth chart is a moment in time that impregnates various influences to be lived out on the stage of life.  When an event, even a birth,  cuts into the time space continuum, it is part of the universal flow until its end.  The same is true of a political dynasty, or a seed that is planted in the ground that grows, produces, then dies off only to produce again.

Sun Sign astrology divides all of mankind into 12 divisions, suggesting that each group is psychologically the same with the same daily happenings.  That is a ridiculous assumption with slight relevance because a true horoscope is more than just a Sun Sign.  Yet, so many of us can’t resist peeking at our own sign from time to time wondering if we can get a snippet about our future.  We also note each sun sign horoscope is different so we may even search until we find out we like!

I just returned from an International Astrological Conference in Chicago, sponsored by the International Society of Astrological Research (ISAR),  where over 600 delegates from many countries including Russia, Germany, Serbia, UK, Argentina, Brazil, Israel, collected to discuss Astrology’s value to society and the current

economic trends.  Many on the faculty had Ph.D.’s, or MA’s,  in various disciplines such as Psychology, Medicine, Science, Statistics, Education, Religion, and are also Astrologers.   This may dismay many of you.  Astrology has much more depth than most people realize unless one has the time and interest to study its complexity.  Human nature is  complex and hence any study of human nature is also complex by implication.

It is recognized that all life on planet Earth is succinctly tied into the cosmic environment, or most certainly to this universe of which we are part.  Embodied in the four season there are seasons of growth and seasons of death.  The tides of the ocean follow the rhythm of the Moon.  At the Full of the Moon, there are more crimes of passion, more domestic disputes, more patients flooding emergency wards, and more activity in mental institutions than at other times.  And the further out into the universe we go, we can observe cycles within cycles operating within more cycles, each affecting all of us, some in obvious ways as mentioned, and others more subtly as can be seen in a more in depth study of the subject.

I myself am a lifetime student of this fascinating subject and function as a consultant, teacher, author and international lecturer.  As we understand more about the intricacies of our individual psychological thrust, the flow of the societal structure, and even the geophysical activity on this shifting, living planet, we come to realize we are indeed connected in some inevitable, curious, inexplicable way to the movement of time as indicated by the moving bodies in our universe.

Clients go to astrologers today, not to have their fortune told as in the past, but to gain insight into circumstances in their lives and discover greater meaning into their present circumstances as well as their evolutionary path.  Once an action has been chosen, it must come to a conclusion.  Sometimes even just knowing how long a particular cycle will last is comfort enough when a circumstance is playing out in our lives.  By understanding its meaning, or tracing back to some psychological or circumstantial input can give insight and allow for the next stage of growth.

Astrology grows in its understanding and body of knowledge the same as any other discipline such as science or medicine.  Hence astrology has grown much over the 40 years I have been actively involved in its study and application.

Next time we can take a look at the patterns in the sky that correlate with the present circumstances we see developing around us.  We are in a powerful paradigm shift that is changing our way of life.  How long will this uncertainty last?   Are we starting to move out of our economic downfall, or is it a period of optimistic euphoria?

Indy was in town and everything was HOT. The weather was hot, the cars were smokin' - quite literally actually as one caught on fire on the Sunday, the men and women were hot, and I was able to attend not one but two of the hottest events in town! Underground Sound with Will.I.Am and the Downtown Tent Party with the controversial Dennis Rodman were by far two impressive productions going on in our city, produced in part by Trixstar Productions.

A few months ago I had the honour to meet Mike Anderson of Trixstar Productions and he's quickly become someone I have great admiration for. He's a very modest and humble man with a passion for entertainment. He's never too busy for anyone and always makes everyone feel important.

After producing two major events in one evening he took off to Camrose on Monday for the Big Valley Jamboree. Just before the show kicked off he made time for a phone interview with me. With the ease and relaxed attitude in our conversation, you would never have known he was so busy.

TD- How long does it take for you to produce an event of such magnitude of the Big Valley Jamboree and the Indy weekend?

MA - BVJ takes a year from start to finish. When I started with BVJ I was doing a lot in the way of production but now I mostly manage the talent. I look after them, media relations, and meet and greets.

TD - What types of events do you produce?

MA - Mostly large scale events and a few corporate. We have a series of seminars called Behind the Icon, where we facilitate speakers such as Dog the Bounty Hunter and Kevin Smith. Upcoming we have the hosts of Paranormal State and Perez Hilton.

TD - What is the most fulfilling aspect of what you do?

MA - Making people happy.

TD - What was your favourite event to produce and why?
(There is a fondness in his tone as he recalls this memory.)

MA - I created NAIT's Ookfest and Campus Chaos 12 years ago. I wanted to create something that would bring the students together so they could build relationships and make some awesome memories to look back on.

TD - Just recently you've taken a brave step forward and committed yourself to Trixstar full time. What was the defining moment for you in making this decision?

MA - I just decided that it wasn’t worth compromising myself to make money. I figured that it was now or never and I took the leap. Previously I had been doing nothing but events and then when the slow time hit needed to supplement my income so I took a job to cover living expenses. Being removed from what I was passionate about created a hunger, and I felt like I was living a lie.

There are good and bad aspects of being self employed. The good side is that it has my own personality, it’s an expression of me. The not so good side is that it’s hard to separate my company from my personal life sometimes and that creates it’s own issues, but I love what I do.

TD - What's up and coming for Trixstar Productions?

MA - The next few months are busy with Campus Chaos and we’re doing the Halloween Howler for The Bear and for CJ92 in Calgary on the same day. I’ll be in both places on the same day making sure that it all comes together. As well we've got the lecture series with Paranormal State and Perez Hilton.

TD - Wow! That's great! What advice would you give to someone that's starting out on their own?

MA - I attended a seminar when I was 19 years old and the speaker said, “the little things are everything.” It was great advice. Be creative and do the extras. If it’s not exciting to you, it’s not exciting to the guests. If it doesn’t excite me, I won’t take the job.

TD - Thank you, Mike for taking the time to chat. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

MA - No problem! Thank you.

The Kettlebell Kings

JUST in case you haven’t heard by now, I’ve been training with the Kettlebell Kings, Mike and Rod to whip this 36 year old body into the beach bod I never had. I started with them a mere few weeks ago at the heaviest and most out of shape I have ever been. Now, I’m not a big girl by any means, but extra weight and weakness is never fun - it has caused my body to trigger old injuries from car accidents and leave me out of certain activities because I can't keep up.

I like results and I like them fast! I give up on a lot of exercise routines because it takes so long to see or feel any benefit from it. This is wicked all over body conditioning with visible results in a short period of time. I know you’re asking, “What are kettlebells?”.  Remember those old strongmen competitions with the cast iron weights that look like cannon balls? That’s them! The various exercises focus on building core strength using the weight of the kettlebells. I never thought in a million years that I would be so willing to take on such a tough activity but I'm lovin' it!

With the slogan "Only the strong survive", they're not kidding. This is tough. Very tough. But it's so worth it.

Rose’s Remedies

In the month of June I decided to make a commitment to my overall health. Especially with the amount of stress that I had been under over the last few months, it seemed imperative to do something before I collapsed from exhaustion, muscle aches, and headaches. I was preparing myself for working with the kettlebells and decided to start with relaxation therapy first.

My friend Reme had raved about Rose’s Remedies and recommended the reflexology treatment. One day when Rose called me for the first time out of the blue and offered me 2 treatments, I couldn’t refuse. I decided to add Reiki on top of that, seeing as I knew enough about it but had never experienced it first hand.

First upon meeting Rose, I had a sense of familiarity. She has a presence and wisdom that can only come from years of knowing the struggles in life that lead to better days, and yet her spirit is still full of wonder and hope. With the level of trust that I felt between us, a person would almost think that we had been friends since childhood days.

We started with the reflexology treatment, which focuses on the pressure points in your feet and hands that connect to all of your organs, and the idea is that by applying pressure to these areas it can signal the body to heal itself. I was surprised at how soothing it was to have someone working on my feet. Rose is very intuitive and can pick up on what’s going on with your body by what she can feel in your feet, and shared some stories on how surprised some clients have been by her accuracy. There was no discomfort at all, and it was the most relaxing thing I had done for myself in a long time. She must have spent a good 25 mins on each one before moving onto Reiki.

Reiki is a natural healing process used to reduce stress and heal the body, mind and spirit of maladies. The practitioner taps into “life force energy” and “laying of hands” over the body to heal itself. Seeing that everything is a source of energy - this makes sense to me.

I have to admit that I was astounded at the sensations going through my body. At first I could feel this intense heat around my head and a slight pressure on my right eye. As she progressed through the treatment I could feel the energy moving through my body and it felt like there were flames shooting out of my feet! I know it sounds bizarre, and I’m sure that the reflexology treatment got the blood circulating in my feet and that contributed to the feeling of flames, but WOW!

As I stood up to go, I remember feeling as if I was floating. I felt so light and relaxed! That was the whole point of this, to get outside of my head and the stress and experience something peaceful. That peace and relaxation stayed with me for days. I’m definitely going to try the ion cleanse and the infrared sauna next!

Rose is a wonderful practitioner and if you’d like to try the services she offers she’s also very reasonably priced.

Many of you may have heard of this brilliant local speaker and hypnotist who has mesmerized thousands of people, even skeptics of the ability to be hypnotized. He’s entertaining, captivating, and empowering. One of the many qualities that I admire about Wayne is his integrity and respect for the human spirit. His intentions are always of the higher good and to educate people about the power of the mind.

Magicnicity is a 30 day program which enables you to unlock the magic and power within. It taps into your unconscious mind to assist you in consciously manifesting your desires. Complete with audio CD’s and workbook, the only other tools you need lie within you.

Last summer, I met Wayne for lunch and he gave me the gift of this program. At the time my intentions were to be studious and dive right in, however, my attention was quickly directed to the doors closing behind me in my business. Being stuck in a mind frame of failure, I didn’t feel that there was much magic left inside, so a manifesting system didn’t seem to intrigue me for the time being and it was put onto the bookshelf.

A few months later when I had had enough of walking through the shady and dark corners of my mind, I decided to pop one of the audio CD’s in to help me to get to sleep. I fell asleep every night within the first 2 minutes! I began to wonder if I was absorbing the content of the material, so I pulled out the workbook and to my surprise was able to fill almost all of it out! Brilliant! I was doing homework with my eyes closed!

Instead of 30 days, it took me a little longer by doing it this way as I was listening to the same CD over and over again by using it as a sleep aid. There were some where I was actually using it as directed but all in all, the entire program was instrumental in turning things around and reprogramming my thought patterns.

I recommend for anyone that is serious about attaining their dreams, and willing to set out a game plan, to use Magicnicity as a strong support system. Everything we need always lies within us and this is a wonderful and gentle reminder of how to get there.

Leanne Power

There has been a lot of hype around all of the juices from multi level marketers that claim theirs is the answer to all that ails you. I’ve tried a few and have found that sometimes the flavor leaves little to be desired and/or that the claims seem somewhat empty.

When my friend / massage therapist contacted me regarding this new product and telling me that it had my name “written all over it”, my first thought was “great… (Sigh)”. However, when I considered the source that it was coming from I thought there might be something for me to look at. Leanne isn’t one to jump on a bandwagon. She puts careful thought and research into anything she does, which is one of the many things that I admire about her. I trust her, implicitly. However, products that make certain claims always have me skeptical.

I had been dealing with an array of digestive issues and was willing to try anything to find some relief. I was pleasantly surprised with the results of taking Zrii. Within a matter of two weeks my energy had increased and my stomach issues had subsided.

What really caught my interest about this product was the endorsement. This product is endorsed by Deepak Chopra’s wellness centre. I have a deep admiration for Deepak; he brings attention of body, mind and spirit into balance with Ayurvedic principles. I believe that the body can heal itself and Ayurvedic medicine is one that I strongly support. So when I tried this product…Woo Hoo!

Multi level marketing programs sometimes annoy me because I feel inundated with them at networking events and everyone's always trying to sign me up on the next best thing.  However, when I was able to examine the comprehensive program that this one offers I was impressed. Out of the many MLM products that I’ve had the opportunity to learn about, this is by far the best!

Donald Trump was asked on a talk show – “If you had to start all over again what would you do?” He said, “Multi Level Marketing.” The person in the audience laughed and he said “That’s why I’m up here and you’re out there.”

No need for a juicer - it's all in this well packaged bottle.

Crazy Cakes by Jacquelyn Steeves

So just a week before my boyfriend’s birthday I decided that I wanted to make it memorable. He figured out that we were planning a party for him so a surprise party was out. Then I remembered that my friends’ sister started a business making theme cakes, so thanks to the convenience of Facebook I was able to take a look at her product. I was impressed so I thought I’d simply place an order. It turns out that it’s not like walking into a bakery and your only options being chocolate or vanilla.

I didn’t realize all of the options available. Rhett’s a fire fighter so the only thing that made sense was a fire truck. So, I sent Jacquelyn a message stating just that. Well… she came back with an array of flavors to choose from for the cake AND the icing as well as how many servings we required. She also suggested the option of making a cake that resembled his fire helmet. Ok cool!

Let me first say that this woman is an amazing mother of 4 little ones! Although I was placing my order at the very last minute she was able to produce an astounding work of art. This cake blew his mind!!! His fire helmet smelled delicious and looked too good to cut into, but once we did we found the delectable flavor of peanut butter with a butter cream icing.

I love the idea of theme cakes - it makes the event more personal and memorable. Jacquelyn’s cakes have been dubbed “Crazy Cakes” by her daughter Marley. They’re fun and delicious!

Starting at around $3/person you really can’t go wrong with this wonderful confection.

Like many pet owners, I love my cats Lux & Lola, like they were my children. I love to play with them, cuddle with them and I talk about them like a mother with a newborn baby. I do however get a little skittish when it comes to grooming their nails. I’m always nervous that I might cut to the quick and cause some pain and bleeding, which I think might be more traumatizing for me then it is for them. So, imagine my delight when one of my co-workers tells me about her mobile pet services!

Reme has a very sweet personality and a no nonsense approach to business, which is a prime quality for a dog obedience trainer and pet groomer. She has a way of making the pets and their owner comfortable while effortlessly getting the job done. She’s also a wealth of information!

While she was trimming Lux’ overgrown talons, she noticed that two of them were just touching the pads on her paws. Reme kindly informed me of the hazards of what could happen should the nails grow into the pads. It causes the cat to walk differently and even turn her paws inward which could eventually lead to arthritis, and even abscess should it puncture the skin. She also gave me a few other tips!

Dog Gone Good Services are a mobile obedience and pet care service with incredibly reasonable rates. Reme’s true passion and love is apparent when she meets your pets. Her services are personalized, (Lux & Lola received homemade treats free of chemicals and harmful toxins), a card thanking us and informing of the fee schedule. This is where I could’ve turned cartwheels…$20 per visit for the first pet and $15 for each additional pet. 5 nail trims and the 6 ones free! AND I never have to feel the anxiety of cutting to the quick!

Seriously - 5/5 purrs!

Tips from Reme

Cats & Dogs nails should be trimmed every 4-6 weeks, depending on the growth of the nails and the activity level of the pet.

It is always good for the owner to hold the cat’s paws and apply gentle pressure to see how long the nails actually are, for cats are able to retract their nails unlike dogs, birds, and other small animals.

When dealing with your pets health, the nail care is probably one of the most single important treatment that is often unnoticed, or overlooked by the owner. If the nails are not properly cared for this can often result in numerous problems for your pet.

Such problems are when the nail grows into the bed (bottom) of the pet’s paw, thus causing pain and the possibility of an infection. Sometimes if the nails are too long (mostly in dogs, and small animals) this can be caused to be an early stage of arthritis.  It can cause the pet to alter the way that they walk, it can affect their personality.

If the pet is exhibiting such behaviors like chewing or gnawing at their paws, excessive licking, and limping this is a sign that their nails are too long.

Careit Urban Deli is a hidden gem in the west end of Edmonton in The Hamptons. One might think that it's not typically the ideal location for a new business, but this has become the communities hottest stop for take out with a twist.

When I first walked into the quaint and modern store, I was enthusiastically welcomed by Dave who was very helpful in informing me about their product.

They have a wonderful selection of cheeses, deli meats, free range chicken, fresh cuts of organic beef and fish. Their slogan is "The Healthy Side of Take Out" and with the care and thought that Cam and Louis put into creating these meals, you begin to understand how that rings true. They even have a healthy diet plan to help you get back on track with your nutrition and health!

With mouth watering choices of butter chicken, sheppards pie, ginger beef (just to mention a few), three different kinds of rice, fresh salads, soups, sandwiches made to order and tasty herbal tonic elixirs, it can easily become a regular stop on the way home and they even treat you like one of the family!

Dave, Cam and Louis opened Careit Urban Deli just over a year ago and have developed a winning product and service with their support of local producers, great care put into their product and the attention they pay to their customers needs and requests.

Keep an eye out for their new location opening in Crestwood Centre on 142 St.
